Ancient Knowledge.
Living Tradition.
For Our Time.
Ancestral Activation Association is rooted in the living East Greenlandic Inuit — Tunumiut — shamanic tradition. We work to keep ancestral knowledge alive through practice, ceremony, research, and respectful exchange.
Ancestral Activation Association
Ancient Knowledge in a Modern World
At its centre is the body of knowledge and practice carried by Laakki Saningasseq Sanimuinaq Arke and her lineage. Our mission is to keep ancestral knowledge alive through practice, teaching, ceremony, and cultural exchange; to support reconnection with land, lineage, and living traditions.
We promote respectful collaboration across cultures, protecting the integrity of the Tunumiut oral heritage while building durable bridges to modern research, ecological stewardship, and international communities seeking indigenous paradigms.

The Work
The Association brings living ancestral knowledge into contemporary contexts through structured practices, curation, and institutional dialogs.
We offer teachings rooted in East Greenlandic Inuit shamanic practice. The work includes drum journey training, individual teachings, courses, workshops, retreats, medicine walks and practices connected with ancestors, land and living traditions.
Ceremony is a central part of the work. We hold ceremonial and healing work for individuals, groups and communities. This includes soul retrieval, drum journeys, ancestral work, healing and ceremonies connected with transitions, land and place.
Film is a significant part of the work. We participate in and collaborate on documentary and film projects through storytelling, interviews, cultural and spiritual consultation, ceremonial contribution, development and public conversation.
The work supports reconnection with land, lineage and traditions. It also brings ancestral and cultural perspectives into conversations around cultural disruption, intergenerational trauma and belonging, including work connected with suicide prevention.
We work with founders, leaders, companies and organisations through private teachings, talks, retreats, ceremonial work and longer collaborations.
We collaborate internationally with communities, universities, museums, cultural organisations, NGOs and public institutions through cultural exchange and longer partnerships.
Living Lineage
Ancient Tunumiut knowledge is structurally preserved through family lineage, oral transmission, structured apprenticeship, and lived ceremony rather than static documentation.
Laakki Saningasseq Sanimuinaq Arke
Born and raised in East Greenland, Rakel was chosen early by her family elders to carry the historical and spiritual transmissions of the Angakkut lineage. She serves as the core spiritual authority of the Association.
Preserving Shamanic Cosmology
"My primary duty is to keep the living flame of Sila alive in direct lineage. We protect the integrity of the ancestral drum and cosmology so that future generations can access true, unmodified Greenlandic culture."
Sources & Historical Documentation
The spiritual traditions of the Tunumiit are documented across historical ethnographies, written catalogs, and early phonographic sound archives.
Lineage Maps
Genealogies of East Greenlandic Angakkut
Anthropological records documented by Joelle Robert-Lamblin in 1996 map the unbroken transmission charts of key families near Sermilik Fjord and the descendants of Noa Maratse.

"These historical sources document the wider cultural and spiritual world from which the association's lineage originates. The lineage itself is carried through family, oral transmission, and lived practice. The Association strictly distinguishes between external archives and internal living knowledge."
